Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara, former Ministers Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila have decided to boycott the all-Party Conference to be held on Wednesday (23) under the patronage of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, it is reported.
Instead, a decision has been taken to send only two representatives from the government’s ten affiliated parties to the all-Party Conference, which will be attended by MPs Athuraliye Rathana Thera and Prof. Tissa Witharana.
However, the SLFP has decided to attend the all-party conference.
An all-party conference will be held next Wednesday under the patronage of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to discuss the current situation in the country and the Presidential Secretariat has notified all parties represented in parliament to attend this conference.
All-party conference a ploy to share blame
A leader of a partner party has told Lankadeepa that Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila have decided not to attend the all-party conference as the government has not convened this discussion in good faith.
He has also stated that it is a lie to convene an all-party conference without discussing the crisis in the country within the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, the ruling party or the cabinet.
At a time when the whole country is blaming the government for the present crisis in the country, he said that this all-party conference has been organized in order to share that blame.
