Colombo Additional Magistrate Lochani Abeywickrema yesterday (10) ordered the Police Children and Women’s Bureau to carry out an immediate investigation regarding a 34-year-old married teacher of a leading school in Colombo who had sexually abused a student at the same school in Colombo over a period of four years.
The relevant teacher had met the then 16-year-old student at an annual cricket tournament.
Thereafter, they had maintained close contact over WhatsApp and the police notified court that the teacher had coerced the student to engage in sexual activities with her in the computer room and several other places.
The police also told the court that the relevant teacher had taken the student to a reputed hotel in Mount Lavinia and that she had produced her Identity Card to gain entry.
It has been revealed that the relevant student is now 20-years of age.
The Magistrate ordered the police to conduct investigations into the suspect teacher and report the matter to the court.
