President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had called for an all party conference to discuss the current economic situation in the country, Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardene informed Parliament today.
Mr. Gunawardene who was responding to a question raised by UNP MP Ranil Wickremesinghe said official notices will be sent to party leaders shortly. Mr. Wickremesinghe questioned the tabling of the IMF report on Sri Lanka which was released shortly.
“It is better if the IMF report is tabled in Parliament so that it could be debated. It will also be possible to discuss it at the all party conference called by the President,” he said.
Mr. Gunawardene assured that the IMF report will be made available to the party leaders. “IMF report is already a public document, but we will see that it is released to the party leaders prior to the All Party Conference begins,” he said. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
