Date set for case against Wimal! | Breaking News

Colombo Additional Magistrate Chandima Liyanage today (07) ordered that the hearing of a case filed against MP Wimal Weerawansa and six other suspects be called on May 30.

Witnesses were warned by the magistrate to appear in court that day.

The Cinnamon Gardens Police have filed a case against Wimal Weerawansa and six others for allegedly harassing the public by protesting on the road opposite the UN Headquarters at Thunmulla Junction in Colombo during the visit of former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Seyed Al Hussein in 2016.

When the case was taken up today, MP Wimal Weerawansa and six other suspects who were released on bail appeared before the court.

Wimal Weerawansa, Jayantha Samaraweera, Mohamed Muzammil, Weerakumara Dissanayake, Piyasiri Wijenayake and Roger Seneviratne have been named as defendants in the case.
