ECONOMYNEXT – Indian Naval Ship Nireekshak, an advanced diving support ship has arrived in Sri Lanka’s North-Eastern Trincomallee port, on a 10-day training mission.
The vessel has two six person recompression chambers and a three-man diving bell.
“The ship is fully capable to undertake rescue operations from a submarine in distress and training of saturation divers,” the Indian High Commission in Colombo said in a statement.
Commanding Officer of INS Nireekshak, Commander Mohammad Ikram had Commander of Sri Lanka’s Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral PDS Dias, had discussed the training proram.
The vessel will in Sri Lanka for 10 days on a mixed gas diving raining for the Sri Lanka Navy. (Colombo/Feb28/2022)
