ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Coronavirus deaths topped 30 to reach 32 on February 01 from around a dozen cases two weeks ago as daily positive cases also topped 1,100 as the Omicron virus spread, data shows as authorities urged the public to get a widely available third vaccination dose.
Sri Lanka’s daily positive cases were a little over 800 two weeks ago.
Doctors have been warning the public to be careful and take the third dose of vaccines which has been made freely available.
Hospitalized and home based postive cases grew to 16,895 on February 01, from 13839 two weeks earlier.
The vaccine take up had been slow until this week.
However data show that the public is taking more vaccines now.
On February 01, 91,000 persons took the vaccines, up from 58,000 on January 31 and around 30,000 a day until January 26.
