PSC says no advice sought on reinstating Dr. Shafi! | Breaking News

The Office of the Public Service Commission (PSC) says that neither the Health Ministry or any other institution has sought a request from the commission for advice on reinstating Dr. Shafi Shihabdeen or paying his salary arrears.

This is noted in a statement issued by the Office of the Public Service Commission.

The statement says that accordingly, neither the commission nor its Health Services Committee has issued such a directive.

However, as the Establishments Code of Sri Lanka clearly states the action which is to be taken after an official sent on compulsory leave is reinstated, the relevant authorities can act accordingly, it adds.

On May 24, 2019, the Health Ministry secretary recommended to send Dr. Shafi on compulsory leave and the PSC had approved this recommendation on June 19. 2019.
