SLPP MP Mahinda Samarasinghe has said he is to resign from his parliamentary seat within days in order to take up duties as the Sri Lankan ambassador to the USA and Mexico.
Speaking in parliament today (23), Samarasinghe said he accepted the new position offered to him by president Gotabaya Rajapaksa and is expected to leave for the US by Nov. 29.
The post of Sri Lankan ambassador to the US has remained vacant since the retirement of Ravinatha Aryasinha.
