Veteran journalist – Sirilal Kodikara’s final rites are to be held at the Borella Cemetery today (20).
His remains are currently at the Jayaratne funeral parlour for the public to pay their final respects.
Sirilal Kodikara, who was born in Thalathuoya, Kandy, on Aug. 24, 1924, was aged 97 years when he passed away.
Entering the field of media through the ‘Sihala Jathiya’ newspaper, he later joined the newspapers ‘Aththa’ and ‘Dawasa’, and became widely famous for his poetic column ‘Ranchagoda Lamaya’.
Kodikara also penned publications such as ‘Mage Saakkiya’, ‘Callista ge Sawaariya’, ‘Tyre Seya’, ‘Kaneru Mal’, ‘Maa Dutu Kosala Sihina’, ‘Diyawelak Osse’, ‘Leyin Liyu Kawi’, ‘Norajunge Anthappuraya’, ‘Gahen Wetunu Geheniya’, ‘Nile Gange Kes Gasa’ and ‘Vishwa Thula Vishwa’.
