A recent report of the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) has revealed that cheques amounting to over Rs. 2,450 million issued by various individuals and institutions to pay annual taxes to the Inland Revenue Department have been returned.
It is said that 6,878 cheques issued in the 12 month period from 2020 January to the IRD have returned in this manner.
All these checks are valued at Rs. 245,14,65,383.
