Former Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, General Mahesh Senanayake (Rtd) has been inducted into the United States Army Command and General Staff College International Hall of Fame.
This is the first time in Sri Lankan history that a Sri Lankan Army Officer has been given such a high honour and accolade in the global military leadership.
This honour is bestowed on international graduates of the United States Army Command and General Staff College who have achieved visible means of recognition through military merit and attained qualifying positions or posts in their respective countries or who have held an equivalent position or rank or responsibility in a multinational organization.
General Mahesh Senanayake, a past pupil of Ananda College Colombo, was enlisted to the Sri Lanka Army in 1981 as a cadet officer and in 1983, passed out as 1st in order of merit, while also winning the Sword of Honour.
General Mahesh Senanayake is a graduate of the prestigious United States Army Command and General Staff College and also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Jawaharlal Nehru University of India.
