Exams Dept. to conduct driving licence test: DMT head | Sri Lanka News

The written examination for obtaining driving licenses is to be conducted by the Examinations Department soon, the Motor Traffic Department (DMT) said.

DMT Commissioner General Sumith Alahakoon said that it was planned to conduct a general written test once a year at examination centres island wide during the other examination conducted by the DMT.

He said the decision was taken to ease the burden of those who wish to obtain their driving licences.

Accordingly, applicants will get an opportunity to participate in the written test for obtaining a driver's licence in their own area, he said.

Anyone over the age of 17 can sit for the examination, but the opportunity to obtain a driver's licence is feasible only after once the applicant reaches 18, the Commissioner General said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
