The unveiling of Sandahiruseya Cheithiya in Anuradhapura and offering it to the Maha Sangha will take place this afternoon (18) with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa as chief guests.
The Cheithiya was built in honour of about 29,000 Ranaviru personnel who laid down their lives and about 37,000 others who were disabled during the North – East war which ended on May 19, 2009.
Construction work of the project had been undertaken by security forces personnel.
Defence Secretary Mjr.gen. Kamal Gunaratne (Rtd) and relatives of the deceased or disabled security forces personnel will attend the ceremony. (DAYARATNE EMBOGAMA – ANURADHAPURA)
