The Department of Buddhist Affairs has stated that Dhamma schools can re-open from Nov. 28.
In a statement, the Commissioner General of the department has said that they should fix an appropriate programme after discussing with parents and other relevant parties.
The announcement further states that preparations should be made this Sunday (21) and commence Dhamma schools will be reopened from next Sunday (21st) after preparing the arrangements and strictly following the health guidelines.
Grades 6-9 to commence next Monday
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has announced that academic activities of Grades 6,7,8 and 9 will commence next Monday (22).
In a media release, the ministry stated that the decision was taken during a meeting at the ministry premises today (16).
Education officials had decided to re-open schools under 4 phases and the grades 6-9 will recommence under the 4th phase.
Sri Lanka’s Education Ministry has announced that schools will re-open for Grades 6, 7, 8, and 9 from Monday (22).
On Monday (15), Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said classes that did not re-commence following the lockdown being lifted, will commence soon.
Accordingly, grades 6, 7, 8, and 9 of all government and government approved private schools will commence academic activities from Monday (22), said the Education Ministry following a meeting between Education Secretary (Professor) Kapila Perera and officials.
