Rise in cases in next two days can’t be controlled now: Dr. Herath | Sri Lanka News

The increase in COVID cases that could be experienced in next one or two days can’t be controlled at present as it is a result of people’s reckless behaviour within last 10 to 15 days, Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath said.

He told a media briefing held at the Health Promotion Bureau today that the damage of COVID-19 being witnessed at present can’t be rectified in another one or two days either.

“It takes time because it is consequent to the people’s irresponsible behaviour 10 to 15 days ago,” he said.

“What should be done is to make sure COVID practices are strictly observed in order to prevent a possible rise in cases in near future ” Dr. Herath added.

Thus, he highlighted the importance of adhering to health guidelines and rules when venturing outside. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
