Anuradhapura District Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) branch passed a resolution that the SLFP should contest the next elections as a single party regardless of victory or defeat.

The meeting was held at the SLFP District Office under the Chairmanship of State Minister Disanayake at the Airport Road to elect office bearers for the District Bhikku Front, Youth Front, Farmer Organisation, Teachers’ Front, Women’ Front and the affiliated organisations.

Secretary of the SLFP District Youth Front Saman Kumara proposed that the SLFP should contest the next elections as a single party and it was passed unanimously by the representatives of all organisations.

Addressing the meeting State Minister Duminda Disanayake said the SLFP supported the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna at the presidential election and the general election as well, but it had not received due recognition as expected.

“If the SLFP sympathizers are of the opinion that the party should contest the next elections as a single party the electoral organisers should be informed of that decision. The candidates to contest the next Provincial Council Election should be selected after considering their eligibility” He said
