COVID-19: Country is heading into a dark period? | Sri Lanka News

With the number of cases and deaths showing a marginal increase day by day despite vaccination, Health authorities warn of a dark period ahead if the situation is not nipped in the bud.

COVID-19 Coordinator, Director of Technical Services of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Anwar Hamdani said there is a slight increase in hospitalisation of COVID patients.

“30 percent of total treatment centres of 176 has been occupied at present,” he said.

“This is in fact setting alarm bells ringing. It is imperative that we control the situation before it becomes worse; otherwise, the country could be dragged to the dark era that we had a few months ago,” Dr Hamdani highlighted.

Hence, he urged people to strictly comply with health guidelines and practices if the country is to reach a controlled situation. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
