Sri Lanka welcomes 22,000 tourists in October, most from India

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has welcomed 22,771 tourists in October 2021, up from 13,547 in September with most coming from India, as the country re-opens for tourism as the Coronavirus pandemic abates.

So far in 2021, 60,695 tourists have come.

In October 8,406 Indian tourists came, accounting for 36.9 percent of all visitors followed by 2,241 from the UK, 1,228 from Russia, 1,196 from Germany, 688 from Canada, 624 from France and 573 from the US.

Sri Lanka has vaccinated over 60 percent of the population and is planning a booster for tourism workers with the country keen to resume tourism.
