The Irrigation Department has issued an amber alert, warning of a possible minor flooding in the lowline areas of Kelani River flood plain situated in Dehiowita, Ruwanwella, Seethawaka, Dompe, Kaduwela, Biyagama, Kolonnawa, Colombo and Wattala DS Division areas.
Meanwhile, the Meteorology Department issued a red alert warning for heavy rains in the Western, North-Western, Sabaragmuwa, and Northern Provinces.
In addition, a similar warning has been issued for the districts of Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara.
The Meteorology Department warned that most areas will experience over 150 mm of rain.
