Lady RMV officer arrested over fraudulent documents | Breaking News

The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) had arrested a lady officer of the Department of Registration of Motor Vehicles (RMV) yesterday (07) over the unauthorized preparation and printing of certificates of registration.

She was arrested based on information revealed during investigations where three registration certificates for motorcycles had been printed on an RMV computer on her approval.

According to the CCD, this 44-year-old lady clerk had been attached to the motorcycle registration division. She has been serving in this division for 22 years.

There is a tendency for motorcycles registered in this manner to get into the hands of underworld criminals and she will be questioned in this regard.

Although various certificates including police certificates are required for these registration certificates, the police stated that the certificates have been printed from another computer in the department.

It is suspected that she had obtained money from persons obtaining these fraudulent certificates and the Colombo Crimes Division said that she will be questioned in this regard.
