The Colombo Crimes Division is scheduled to obtain a statement from the wife of leading underworld leader Angoda Lokka who died in India, regarding the offering of a 38 sovereign gold salver to the historic Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya.
The statement is to be obtained from her, in connection with the investigation into the disappearance of a 38 sovereign gold salver from the historic Kataragama Devalaya.
Investigations have revealed that Angoda Lokka’s wife had donated the gold salver to the Kataragama Devalaya during the Perahera in July 2019.
A senior police officer had told a newspaper that her statement would be recorded to verify the information regarding the golden salver she is said to have donated.
This senior officer had said that she is a resident of the Kolonnawa area and had been summoned to the CCD to record the statement.
The woman is to be questioned on the motive behind the donation of this 38 sovereign golden salver to the Kataragama Devalaya.
According to police sources, the golden salver has been missing for about a year and the police had commenced investigations only two weeks ago.
According to information received by IGP C.D. Wickramaratne, the Colombo Crimes Division had commenced investigations.
