Ministry issues statement after 'Menike Mage Hithe' played at Katina pinkam | Breaking News

The Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs has requested only to use suitable songs that have a religious background during ‘Katina pinkam’ that are held these days.

Secretary of the ministry – Prof. Kapila Gunawardena had urged to use suitable songs instead of popular songs.

The statement comes in the wake of rising criticism on social media, over music used at ‘Katina pinkam’ and the manner in which health guidelines are followed.

Videos showing the tune of popular track ‘Menike Mage Hithe’ being played at these religious festivals have sparked much criticism.
