A total of 362 bus operators and owners of 504 shops in the Western Province have been warned for violating health guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that a special operation was conducted yesterday in the Western Province from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with the participation of over 400 police officers.
Accordingly, the police inspected 857 public transport buses, 143 air conditioned buses and 1,160 shops in the Western Province to monitor whether the health guideline issued by the Director General of Health Services were being followed when operating those services.
During the operations, it was observed that 327 buses, including 35 AC buses and 504 shops were operating, violating health guidelines such as not wearing face masks and failing to maintain social distance.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
