Those who misuse public funds will be born as a demon in next birth: EP governor | Sri Lanka News

If the money spent on the development of the children is misused, their soul will be born as a demon in the next birth, Eastern Province (EP) Governor Anuradha Yahampath said.

She said this while addressing the Trincomalee District Progress Review Meeting of the Wewgam Pubuduwa Project yesterday.

The Governor also said that the people should keep in mind to bless their next souls by working without misusing public money.

She said the contractors who used to carry out construction work without proper standards should be removed immediately and another set of contractors should be replaced as per correct procedures.

The governor further said that we must take advantage of every penny that we receive from foreign countries.

“It is not possible to let the money be wasted just because it was donated or funded upon goodwill. We are a water self-sufficient country. We had a 2500-year-old agricultural culture. The intelligent people of that era used water,” she said.

“These lakes are not accidental and God-given to us. These are the result of the hard toil of our ancestors,” she said.

“But it is a pity to say that our water management has come down to the extent that water conservation projects are being taken up today. There is nothing to do now. Let's rectify the mistakes and move on,” she added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
