Intercity express train services will commence from next Monday (8), Railways General Manager Dhammika Jayasundara said.
He said plans would be drawn in the future after discussions about running the night mail train and trains running after 7.00 pm under normal schedules.
Only inter-provincial office trains being operated from November 1 after the lifting of inter-provincial travel ban was in place to control COVID spread.
However, after 7.00 pm, long distance trains as well as short distance trains were not operated as usual.
As per the current system, trains will be operated after 7.00 pm depending only on passenger demand, he said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
