There is an increase in the number of people in society who do not show any symptoms of Covid, said Dr. Rukshan Bellana, President of the Government Medical Officers’ Forum.
Therefore, he warned that under this situation, reopening of the remaining grades without fully vaccinating all school children, could lead to another wave of Covid infections in the country.
He said that although there was a clear decrease in the number of Covid patients in the country compared to the previous period, the situation was alarming.
He said although a large number of people in the country have been fully vaccinated, school children have not been fully vaccinated yet and the provisions including health guidelines should be strengthened prior to commencing all grades. He noted that random tests should also be carried out across the country to detect Covid infections.
